Computer Associates International, Inc. develops, markets, and supports systems management, information management, and business application software products for a broad range of mainframe, midrange, and desktop computers.

Founded in 1976, Computer Associates has 1990 revenues of $1.3 billion. Headquarters are currently on Long Island in Garden City, New York. In 1992, headquarters will be moved to Islandia, New York, also on Long Island. Computer Associates currently employs over 7,000 employees in 26 countries. The company offers over 200 software products and its clients include almost all of the Fortune 500 companies.

 

Technology

Computer professionals in the Westwood, Massachusetts development center of Computer Associates design key components of its information management software. This family of products includes data base management and application development software. The foundation of the system is CA-IDMS, a data base management system. Additional components include on-line query and reporting software. Data base solutions are offered for IBM mainframe, PC, LAN, UNIX, and Digital's VAX/VMS environment.

Business application software is also developed in the Westwood facility. This integrated family of products provides automated financial, manufacturing, and human resources solutions for clients. Computer professionals in the Andover, Massachusetts development center participate in developing the Masterpiece Financial Software Series, which combines the technology of modular, central repository-based processing and runs on IBM, DEC, Unisys, and Data General platforms.

There are approximately 300 computer professionals at Computer Associates in the Massachusetts area. Job titles include Programmer, Consultant, Software Engineer, Product Analyst, and Quality Assurance Analyst.
